It was an intense retreat based on the Scripture. There were many nuggets that we got from it. For me, it is the need to read and meditate on the passages. If not, it would be like eating without chewing. We cannot miss savouring the Word. It is also essential to have an attitude of curiosity, but not to be a kaypoh. It is to be curious about Jesus, like Zaccheaus who run ahead and climbed a tree just to see Him. We had great rowdy games too. In one session, we had to draw symbols to represent Christian leadership and there were many artistic talents among us! The 3 presenters did alot of work, including sharing quotes from the Pope.
What an experience it was! This year’s Church of the Holy Cross ExCo retreat on ‘following & encountering Christ’ helped me to refresh, renew & in some instances, rediscover, how much the Word means to me! It is so spiritually enriching as the sisters, Sandra, Maria Jose and Leticia, brought us deep into relevant passages in the Bible for us to read, meditate & pray using the Lectio Divina method to bring us in close communion with the Lord.
