Saturday Mornings With VDei - Embrace Change

On the 2nd and 9th of November, a group of participants attended the first Saturday Mornings with VDei event. Saturday Mornings with VDei commenced with the theme, "Embrace Change," during which participants explored the journeys of two biblical figures, Abraham and Job. Through their stories, they gleaned insights on perceiving change as an opportunity for growth.

The sessions were led by Sr. Monika and Sr. Sandra. On 2 nd November’s session, Sr. Monika explored the concept of change, emphasizing how it can be good and a pathway to personal growth. She drew parallels to Abraham’s transformative journey, encouraging participants to embrace change as a vital aspect of life. She urged them to take the leap of faith even when they do not know the entire picture, trusting that God will guide them toward a fruitful life. The participants were given an opportunity for quiet reflection. After this period of silence, they came together for group sharing, where they were encouraged to express their insights with one another.

The following Saturday, Sr. Sandra built upon this discussion, shifting the focus to the more challenging aspects of change. Drawing from Job's story, she conveyed that change can often bring about loss, pain and suffering. She invited the participants to reflect on Job’s unwavering faith, urging them to trust in God during their own challenging times. Even when life’s trials seem baffling, and the reasons behind their struggles remain unclear, Sr. Sandra emphasized the importance of holding onto that faith, just as Job did in his darkest moments. The participants had time for quiet reflection on key passages from the book of Job. Following this reflective time, they gathered in the chapel for a time of guided prayer. Joan Wong, a lay member of the Verbum Dei Family, also shared her transformative journey of embracing change, highlighting the role that her faith in God played in guiding her through this experience.
