As we celebrate 25 years of mission in Singapore, we rejoice to have another local Verbum Dei vocation.

I am Dolly, a Singaporean missionary based in the Philippines. Last 14 May 2022, I professed my first vows here in the Philippines. The theme of our vows was based on the passage of Philippians 1:21, “For what is life? To me, it is Christ” and it sums up also very much my journey of search and discovery of the meaning and purpose of life. My heart is filled with gratitude as I gave my “yes” because I know that behind this “yes” lies the faithfulness, self-giving and love shared by the missionaries and each one in the missionary family in Verbum Dei Singapore all these years.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, I give thanks for the fidelity of each one in the community. In Singapore, we are a multi-racial and religious country but the search for life unites us all. These 25 years here have led many of us in the community to discover our deeper call and purpose in life and I am sure it goes beyond our Catholic community as well. As I rejoice with Verbum Dei Singapore on our 25th Anniversary, I pray for each one, that we may continue to be the light of Christ's love in the world today, to help all to discover their call and purpose in life. May our “yes” in our everyday life continue to be the star that points many others to Christ.
