I now address myself to those elders among you; I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, hoping to share the glory that is to be revealed. Shepherd the flock which God has entrusted to you, guarding it, not out of obligation, but willingly, for God’s sake; not as one looking for a reward but with a generous heart; do not lord it over those in your care, rather, be an example to your flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away…All of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another because God opposes the proud but gives His grace to the humble. So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon Him because He cares for you.
(1 Pet 5:1-7)
So, then, my friends, try even harder to make God’s call and His choice of you a permanent experience; if you do so, you will never abandon your faith.
(2 Pet 1:10)
Jesus said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was distressed that He had said to him a third time, “Do you love Me?” and he said to Him, “Lord, You know everything; You know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep…Follow Me.”
(Jn 21:17, 19)
Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them. This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep.”
(Jn 10:11-13)
